Gay City Officials to Speak at "Coming Out Day" Event in Covington
October 11 is noted in some parts of the gay & lesbian community as National Coming Out Day, a day selected because it also marks the anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for Lesbian & Gay Rights". Pike Street Lounge (266 Pike Street) is hosting a "Pop-Up LGBTQ resource center and evening of music and storytelling" and will feature as guest speakers gay Covington City Commissioner Shawn Masters and gay Cincinnati City Councilman Chris Seelbach.
The resource portion of the event runs from 5:00-7:00PM and is hosted by Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, Equality Ohio, the Northern Kentucky Health Department, the Greater Cincinnati Gay Chamber of Commerce, "Sexpert" Richelle Frabotta, Cincinnati Trans Community Group, and Midwest Trans and Queer Wellness Initiative.
The open mic and music program runs from 7:00-10:00PM and is hosted by Bonnie McGinnis-Meyer, JAC Stringer AKA Midwest GenderQueer, Lynda and Taryn, Freeze Kitten, and Mandy Watts.
A dance party starts after 10:00PM.
