Covington School Board Candidates Debate Thursday
The candidates for Covington School Board, one of the most closely-watched races in the county, will face off in a debate at Ninth Street Baptist Church in the city's Eastside. This debate will be the last of four hosted by OASIS, Inc this election cycle, though the school board candidates will appear at a forum at the American Legion Hall in Latonia next Thursday in addition to tonight's debate.
The race for three seats on the Covington Board of Education prompted ten candidates to jump in the race, including two incumbents, though one candidate has since dropped out. (See an interview with each candidate: Race for Covington School Board is Most Competitive)
Invited to attend: Christi Blair, Joyce Baker, Everett Dameron, Mike Fitzgerald, Kerry Holleran, Glenda Huff, Tom Miller, Rebecca Pettigrew, Jo Rogers.
The debate will be moderated by Michael Monks of The River City News. Doors at the church open at 5:30PM and the debate will begin at 6:30PM. It will feature questions from the audience and the moderator that all candidates will answer, and a three-minute session of direct questioning for the moderator with each candidate.
Full coverage of the debate will be right here at The River City News - Covington's Election Headquarters.
NOTE: A previous version of this story reported that there would be a segment in the debate in which candidates would ask a question to one other candidate. In a revised format sent out after this article was published, that element has been removed.
