Covington Farmers Market to Begin Accepting WIC
Beginning August 10, 2013, the Covington Farmers Market located at Court St. and Park Place in Downtown Covington, KY will begin to accept WIC benefits. Northern Kentucky Health Department staff will be at the Covington Farmers Market on from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, August 10 to distribute Farmers Market WIC vouchers to eligible clients.
Through a partnership with Renaissance Covington, the Northern Kentucky Health Department and the City of Covington's Recreation Department, matching funds for the WIC program at the Market are made possible by the ACHIEVE grant as part of a community wide health initiative entitled Move. Breath. Grow. Covington.
The Move. Breath. Grow. Covington initiative will provide a financial match for WIC vouchers up to $4 each Saturday (one per person per Saturday). Members of the community who receive WIC benefits are encouraged to come shop fresh and shop local at the Covington Farmers Market, every Saturday in May through October, open from 9am until 1pm at the corner of Court & Park in downtown Covington.
Kentucky residents can contact the Northern Kentucky Health Department for questions related to WIC benefits at 859-341-4264 or visit http://www.nkyhealth.org.
