High School Football Playoff Scores & Photos

The first round of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Gridiron Bowl playoffs started on Friday night.

It was a rough start for teams from the Northern Kentucky River Cities with Holmes, Holy Cross, Scott, Newport, Ludlow and Dayton all seeing their seasons come to an end.

Bellevue and Highlands rolled to victory.

Covington Catholic and Newport Central Catholic take the field on Saturday for their first playoff games.

Beechwood routed Bracken Co. 49-0 in Ft. Mitchell. Photos from that game by RCN contributor Brian Frey are at the bottom of this post.

Here are the scores from Friday night:

Class 1A

Bellevue 64, Eminence 6 The Tigers are 7-4 and face Frankfort next week.

Beechwood 49, Bracken Co. 0 The Tigers are now 7-4 on the season and will face Paris next week.

Paris 41, Ludlow 16 Panthers finish their season at 4-7

Frankfort 53, Dayton 8 Greendevils finish the year at 2-9

Class 2A

Carroll County 29, Newport 21 Wildcats end their season with a record of 5-6

Gallatin Co. 26, Holy Cross 19 Indians wrap up the year with a 1-9 record

Gallatin will now face Carroll next week while Walton-Verona, which beat Lloyd 21-18, will play the winner of Saturday's NewCath/Owen Co. game

Class 4A

Highlands 70, Boyd Co. 6 Bluebirds are now 10-1 and move on to face Ashland Blazer next week

Ashland Blazer 49, Holmes 20 Bulldogs end the season with a record of 5-6

CovCath plays Rowan Co. on Saturday and the winner of that game will face Johnson Central, which beat Harrison Co.

Class 5A

Franklin Co. 28, Scott 14 After starting 7-0, the best record in school history, Eagles end their season on a four-game losing streak ad finish 7-4

In other local scores from Class 5A, Conner beat Montgomery Co., 30-27 and advance to play Anderson County which beat Cooper, 45-35

Class 6A

Simon Kenton 58, Southern 6 Pioneers are 11-0 on the season and play Dixie Heights next week

Dixie Heights 49, Seneca 6 Colonels are 8-3 on the year

In other local scores, Campbell Co. advanced over Pleasure Ridge Park, 31-14 and will play Butler, which beat Ryle 48-14
