Nominations Sought for Behringer-Crawford's Two-Headed Calf Awards

Behringer- Crawford Museum (BCM) in Devou Park is now accepting nominations and applications for the third annual Two-Headed Calf Awards, designed to recognize Northern Kentuckians for significant accomplishments in the areas of community service, history, and education.  Nomination applications are due by Monday, December 30th, 2013 to Behringer-Crawford Museum Executive Director, Laurie Risch ([email protected] or 859-491-4003). Applications may be submitted by mail, email or in person.

“It is important that we honor and celebrate those who make Northern Kentucky a better place to live," said Laurie Risch, Executive Director. “The Two-Headed Calf Awards show that true excellence often rests with those who demonstrate achievement beyond a single contribution; just as two heads are better than one, so is the service of the people these awards honor.”

The three Two-Headed Calf  Award Categories:

History Award: This award honors a Northern Kentuckian who has contributed to the preservation and the understanding of our regional or state history. They capture the past not solely as a matter of scholarship but as a matter of public good.

Education Award: This award is open to an individual (student, parent, teacher, principal, administrator or volunteer), a school or school district, or a group affiliated with education. It is meant to celebrate extraordinary teaching and learning. The recipient does not only demonstrate academic excellence; but demonstrates an innovative and energetic approach to teaching and learning.

The Community Service Award: This award is a tribute to a citizen who has embraced community service with deep commitment by doubling his or her contribution of service with a vision for how the quality of life in our community can be improved by supporting the arts, education, culture and history.

Finalists in each category will be announced in January 2013. The awards will be given at a large banquet at the Northern Kentucky University's Votruba Student Union ballroom on the evening of March 8, 2014. Reservations for the awards banquet can be made by contacting the museum at 859-491-4003.
