Celebrate Hair at The Carnegie

High-fashion hair designed by stylists from top salons across the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area will grace the catwalk during The Art of Hair, presented by Wella Professionals from noon to 5 pm, Sunday, January 12, 2014 in The Carnegie’s Otto M. Budig Theatre.

“The Carnegie’s charge is to shine a spotlight on all forms of art, and that includes artistry as it pertains to the styling world” said Katie Brass, Executive Director of The Carnegie, in a news release. “Attendees will be blown away by the artistry and creativity they see on the runway. It’s not often you get to experience something like this, expecially in an intimate space like the Otto M Budig Theatre.”

Featuring the work of seventeen salons with hairstyles inspired by Carnivale, the Roaring Twenties, Alice in Wonderland, the Renaissance and many more, this year’s Art of Hair is expected to attract an even bigger crowd than the 2012 show, which had more than 700 people in attendance.

Co-chaired by Lisa Herman, owner of CoCo Creative Wellness Salon and Jeffery van Sluys, senior stylist at Salon Urbanity, the event will include a reception in The Carnegie Galleries featuring light bites courtesy of Jeff Thomas Catering.

During The Art of Hair, attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy Take It From Me, the first major retrospective exhibition of work by late local artist, Ron Thomas, as well as five additional exhibitions on display in The Carnegie’s six galleries.

Tickets are $25.00 for Carnegie members and $35.00 non-members. Each ticket includes an assigned seat to one runway show, lasting forty-five minutes each, as well as light bites in the main gallery and a cash bar. Runway shows will take place at 1 and 3 p.m. Coat check will be available as well as valet parking for an additional fee.
