Brent Spence Bridge Southbound Lanes Closed After Truck Tips
UPDATE: The bridge reopened Monday afternoon.
UPDATE (7:27 a.m.): WCPO reports via Twitter that the truck involved in a crash that has the Brent Spence Bridge's southbound lanes closed, was transporting 80,000 gallons on Bud Light. (Readers at The River City News Facebook page don't think that weight could be accurate, however.)
ORIGINAL POST (5:30 a.m.):
All southbound lanes on the Brent Spence Bridge are closed after a semi truck carrying beer tipped over. Multiple other vehicles are reportedly involved in the accident, as well.
According to reports, the southbound lanes could be closed until 8:30 or 9 a.m.
The truck tipped over before 5 a.m. and multiple reports on Twitter indicate that the driver was taken to the hospital.
Some cars were being allowed to exit at Fifth Street in Covington but entrance ramps in Downtown Cincinnati are closed to drivers seeking to access the southbound lanes of the bridge.
Possible detours for drivers heading to Kentucky from Cincinnati include Ft. Washington Way or the Norwood Lateral to I-471 in Newport.
