Another Round of Polar Vortex for the Area?

The arctic temperatures that froze the region last week may be back for an encore.

That could happen as early as Tuesday.

But first, another round of snow will hit Northern Kentucky on Saturday.

A clipper system will rapidly move from the northern plains into the Ohio Valley tonight and as it does, snow will spread from west to east across the region. The National Weather Service reports that as the system moves east, it will weaken, with the snow tapering off toward Sunday morning.

A winter weather advisory has been issued by the NWS with a possible accumulation of one to two inches of snow. That advisory is in effect from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Meanwhile, meteorologists are seeing signs of a repeat of the Polar Vortex, according to The Atlantic Cities:

Currently a weakened Polar Vortex is sitting still over the Hudson Bay, just above Quebec, minding its own business and causing some mild snowstorms. But the Vortex will start moving south at the beginning of next week, and a combination of air systems will create the kind of cold air that bothered much of the U.S. at the beginning of January.

The report says temperatures could be even worse than our first bout with the Vortex, though those temperatures are not yet certain.
