Edelen, Grimes in Town as Young Democrats Kick Off State Convention in Covington

The Kentucky Young Democrats will host its annual convention in Covington this weekend, starting Friday evening.

This year's convention is hosted by Northern Kentucky Young Democrats (NKYD) through Sunday.

The convention is being held at the RiverCenter Marriott. On Friday evening, the NKYD and KYD executive committees will host a reception at 7 p.m. at Molly Malone's in Covington. Speakers include Covington Mayor Sherry Carran and State Auditor Adam Edelen.

"All are welcome at the reception," said Josh Estep, president of NKYD. "It's a way we can show our appreciation for all the support we have received here in Northern Kentucky and will allow us all to welcome KYD delegates to the area."

Secretary of State and US Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes is a featured speaker on Saturday along with State Representatives Arnold Simpson (D-Covington) and Dennis Keene (D-Wilder).

The convention will also visit the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati.

"NKYD is very excited to show off our area to the rest of the Commonwealth and to show that there are still Democrats in Northern Kentucky," Estep said.
