State Employee Busted on Child Porn Charges, Caught in Act of Downloading at Work

An employee of the Commonwealth of Kentucky was arrested this week on child pornography charges after illegal images were found on his state computer.Gordon Bowers, 49, is an environmental scientist at the Department for Natural Resources Division of Mine Reclamation and Enfrocement in London.He was arrested Monday by investigators from the cyber crimes unit in the Office of Attorney General Jack Conway on four counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.The investigation began in November last year and revealed that Bowers, using a file sharing software program, downloaded images depicting the sexual exploitation of children and saved them to his state office computer. A search warrant was executed Monday at Bowers' office where the employee was discovered actively downloading pornographic images involving children on his computer.He was arrested and booked into the Laurel County Correctional Center.Possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor is a Class D felony and each count is punishable by one to five years in prison.Photo: Gordon Bowers/provided
