Newport Central Catholic Downs Holmes, 72-57

Newport Central Catholic extended its winning streak to seventeen by beating Holmes on Friday night at the Bank of Kentucky Center at Northern Kentucky University.

The Thoroughbreds answered a quick start by Holmes with a 9-0 run to end the first quarter and then extended their own lead to nine by halftime.

New Cath (24-3) put three players in double figures. Junior center Drew McDonald led the Breds with 19 while Grant Moeves put in 17 and Zach Pangallo had 15.

James Bolden, the junior guard for Holmes, led all scorers with 21 points, including nine from three-point range. Markel McClendon scored 13 and Quinton Chames had 11 for Holmes.

The Bulldogs fall to 20-5 with the loss. It was a poor shooting night for Holmes as the Bulldogs connected on only 35% of their shots.
