Ruthsatz Becomes Cov Cath's All-Time Leading Scorer in Win Over Dixie
Covington Catholic senior Nick Ruthsatz became the basketball program's all-time leading scorer on Friday night as the Colonels beat Dixie Heights 79-62 at the Bank of Kentucky Center at Northern Kentucky University.
Ruthsatz scored twenty-five points, leading all scorers and giving him a career total of 1,744, breaking the record set by Andy Listerman in 1994.
The son of head coach Scott Ruthsatz, Nick committed last year to playing college basketball at Division II Findlay.
Cov Cath was in control of Friday night's game from the tip, leading by a dozen at the half and then cruising to victory on 58% shooting from the field, including 8 of 15 from behind the three-point arc, and also hit 19 of 24 free throws.
Four other Cov Cath players ended the game in double figures. Cole VonHandorf put in 15, Ben Heppler and Mark Schult each contributed 14, and Bo Schuh scored 11.
Adam Daria led Dixie in scoring with 19 while Brandon Hatton put in 13 and Nick Niehaus scored 10.
Cov Cath has now won ten straight games and improved to 23-1 on the season. Dixie falls to 17-6.
