Former NKU Soccer Star Signs With Prestigious Ireland Club
League of Ireland club Bohemian F.C. has announced the signing of former Northern Kentucky University soccer star Steven Beattie. Beattie had spent the previous two seasons in Iceland's second division playing for UMF Tindastoll.
Bohemian F.C. is one of the oldest professional clubs in Ireland, having been founded in 1890. They were one of the original founding member's of the premier league in Ireland in 1921 and they are the only club in Ireland to have never been relegated from the top division. They have won the premier league 11 times, with their most recent championship coming in the 2009 season.
Beattie was the most successful player in NKU men's soccer history, having been named National Player of the Year twice. He holds the school record in most career goals (77) and is second all-time in assists (30). He helped guide the Norse to the 2010 Division II National Championship, as the Norse defeated Rollins College 3-2.
The first match of the season for Bohemian F.C. takes place at University College Dublin A.F.C. on March 7.
