Newport Mayor Endorses Bevin Over McConnell in US Senate GOP Primary
Newport Mayor Jerry Peluso endorsed the candidacy of Republican Matt Bevin the GOP primary for US Senate.
Bevin faces Senate Minority Leader and five-term incumbent Mitch McConnell.
The Bevin campaign announced Peluso's endorsement in a news release on Thursday.
“Small business is the backbone of our country and Matt Bevin, who owns many small businesses, understands how challenging it is to run one. As someone who knows firsthand about operating expenses such as insurance, taxes, utilities, and state and federal regulations, Matt Bevin will support small business by fighting for their survival,” Mayor Peluso in the news release.
“I am honored by Mayor Peluso’s endorsement and support of our campaign efforts in northern Kentucky. I appreciate all he does for small businesses in Newport. I’m honored to have this life-long Kentuckian’s support and grateful that he’s joining our team,” Bevin said.
Peluso had been a life-long Democrat until he changed his Party affiliation to Republican in 2010.
