Bellevue Council Reaffirms Support for, Cooperation with Schools
The Bellevue City Council unanimously passed a resolution this week reaffirming its support for and cooperation with the Bellevue Independent School District and private schools in the city.
The public school district is currently in the process of searching for a new superintendent after Wayne Starnes announced his retirement, effective at the end of the academic year.
"Education institutions and city administrative institutions share a unique identity as pillars of a community tasked with providing for the good of the whole," the resolution read.
"Cooperation and communication among public institutions is crucial for attaining consistent success at all levels. The success of a community is inextricably linked to the quality of education institutions and the performance of that institution's students."
"We, the duly elected representatives of the people of Bellevue, hereby reaffirm our support for all education institutions in Bellevue, both public and private. We endorse the position that schools are central to the economic and human development of Bellevue and as such deserve consideration reflective of that position. We recognize commitment is required from all levels of city administration and applaud continued dedication to furthering our collective cause through communication and cooperation."
