The crack of the bat and the snap of leather remind America that it’s Opening Day of baseball season.

Today all teams remain in contention (even the Cubbies – who will likely be eliminated from playoff contention by mid-week).

And if you can’t make it to the park, dial one of these movies up on Netflix and bask in the glow of new grass on the field.

FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME

Former United States Senator and Hall of Famer Jim Bunning once said Kevin Costner’s baseball scenes in this movie are the most authentic ever put on the silver screen.

BULL DURHAM

Another Costner film, this movie has caused millions of baseball fans to call their hapless heroes of the diamond “lollygaggers.”

A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN

Who doesn’t love a Tom Hanks movie? And this one about the All-American Girls Baseball League is a classic.

MAJOR LEAGUE

You’ll know when you sit next to fans of this movie, because they’ll repeat every punch line over-and-over – #Justabitoutside.

FIELD OF DREAMS

If you don’t know all the words to James Earl Jones’  speech, go watch a hockey game.
