Burglar in Jean Shorts & Carson Palmer Jersey Sought in Bellevue
Bellevue Police are looking for a man who broke into a home, took a cell phone, cash, and cigarettes, and also a peek underneath a blanket on a bed where a woman was sleeping.
Detective Jon McClain said the suspect made multiple attempts to gain entry to the house on Berry Avenue before ultimately getting in through a window near the front porch early Sunday morning.
"While he was there, he was next to a bed and lifted up a blanket," McClain said. "(The woman) started screaming." That's when the suspect darted from the home with $70 in cash, a cell phone, and some cigarettes and headed toward Fairfield Avenue.
McClain said the suspect was described as a white man in his twenties or thirties wearing jean shorts, a Carson Palmer jersey, and a baseball hat.
The cell phone was eventually recovered at a home in Newport where WKRC said a similar under-the-blanket peek took place. The TV station's report has since been amended, removing an earlier report that a sheet was also lifted off a female on Isabella Street.
Newport Police Chief Tom Collins told The River City News that to his knowledge, no sheet was lifted off a female during the alleged burglary in his city.
Collins also said that the suspect in Newport was said to be wearing a white hooded sweatshirt but that no details about the suspect's ethnicity were specified but did confirm that the cell phone taken from Bellevue was found at the Newport scene.
