Tom + Chee to Unveil to New Chocolate Bacon Donut Grilled Cheese When Newport Location Reopens

To celebrate the awesome renovation of its Newport on the Levee location, Tom+Chee hosts a Grand Reopening celebration 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday featuring family-friendly entertainment, a raffle benefiting Awesome Fathers Taking Roles (AFTR), and the unveiling of T+C’s newest grilled cheese donut, the Choco Bacon Bliss (bacon +chocolate pieces+mozzarella+chocolate mascarpone+donut).

When the Levee T+C opened in 2011 in a former burrito restaurant, founders Corey Ward and Trew Quackenbush did little more to the space than clean and paint. The remodeled Newport store features a completely reconfigured layout, custom tables and flooring, increased seating and other fun touches. The kitchen has been redesigned to increase efficiency and speed up service. The patio, outfitted with a new awning and side panels, will become a three-season room.

The renovation makes the Newport on the Levee Tom+Chee the company’s flagship location and will serve as a design and branding model for T+C franchise stores opening across the country. “Planning for this has been in the works for more than six months,” says Ward. “It’s exciting to finally see our true vision come to life.”

Raffle prizes, including T+C merchandise, will be awarded throughout the day capped by a 5:55 p.m. drawing for the Grand Prize package: a hotel stay at Comfort Suites in Newport, tickets to the Newport Aquarium, and gift cards to Tom+Chee. All raffle proceeds will be donated to Awesome Fathers Taking Roles as part of Tom+Chee’s charitable initiative called The Grilled Cheese That Cares. Raffle tickets are currently being sold at Cincinnati-area Tom+Chee locations.

AFTR (awesomefatherstakingroles.org) is a non-profit dedicated to "educating fathers and role models in the homes of children with special needs," started two years ago by Mark Walker, whose daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Cornelia de Lang syndrome. The organization’s primary annual event is “Dance With My Daddy” (dancewithmydaddy.com), a special evening out for dads and their children with special needs at which it also gives away grant money to most of the families to assist with costly medical bills that are often associated with having a child with special needs.
