Memorial Held Near Kenton Co. Jail for K-9
A memorial service was held late Thursday night near the Kenton County Detention Center for K-9 Niko of the Sheriff's Department.
Niko's longtime deputy partner was Jeremy Adams.
Passersby along 3-L Highway noticed many police cruisers, lights, and flashlights being used at the ceremony leading to speculation on a notoriously reckless social media pseudo-news page Friday morning about possible escapees. After numerous calls of concern, jail officials contacted The River City News to explain that there were no escapees and that the scene was entirely for the purpose of remembering Niko.
The River City News offers its condolences to Deputy Adams and the Kenton Co. Sheriff's Department for the loss of Niko.
