Pendery Wins Judge-Exec GOP Primary, Sheriff Loses & Other Campbell Co. Results
Campbell County Judge-Executive Steve Pendery held off a challenge from within his own party to advance to the general election in November on Tuesday night.
Pendery held off Kevein Sell by more than 700 votes out of over 8,100 ballots cast. He will face Democratic County Commissioner Ken Rechtin in November.
Campbell Co. Sheriff Jeff Kidwell lost to Mike Jansen by a county of 4,550 to 3,496 in the GOP primary. Jansen will face Scott Hildebrand who defeated Michael O'Day in the Democratic primary.
Elsewhere around the county, Brian Painter easily won the GOP nomination for Campbell Co. Commissioner District 1 over Gail Otto and Charliie "Coach" Coleman defeated Pete Garrett in the District 2 Republican primary. In District 3, Mark Ramler advanced with a big win David Amanns for the Democratic nomination.
In the quest to replace retiring State Senator Katie Stine in District 24, Will Schroder held off Deb Sheldon and Brandon Voelker to face Democrat Jason Steffen in November.
Jailer James Daley won a challenge from David Joseph Guidugli in the GOP primary and will face Ed Hehlman, a Democrat, in the November election. The race for County Clerk in November will be between Republican Jim Luersen and Democrat Marc Muench. Luersen defeated Stu Stormer while Muench beat Rob Rummel in their respective primaries.
Twelve candidates advanced from a crowded field in the Dayton City Council race. Incumbent Penny Hurtt was eliminated but may have withdrawn shortly before Election Day. The top vote-getter was challenger Joseph Tucker who was followed by incumbent Jerry Gifford, challenger Joe Neary, incumbent Bill Burns, incumbent Kathy Volter, challenger and former fire chief Denny Lynn, and challengers Jennifer Sierra, Ben Baker, Anthony Vincent Cadle, Robert Reynolds, Jeff Haas, and Leslie Carr.
Six will be elected in November. There will be at least three new members of council.
Daniel Kent Braun won the Republican primary for Property Value Administrator over Tamara Bauwens. Ken Warden beat David Arthur in the Republican primary for Constable 1st District while Jim Peluso defeated Jim Delaney in the Democratic primary for Constable, 3rd District. Ginger Paul beat Rajiim Gross in the Democratic primary for Justice of the Peace, 1st District.
