A man is in jail Thursday accused of sexual offenses involving minors.
The Boone County Sheriff's Office arrested Robert Legner, 34, on Thursday afternoon charging him with possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor, distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, first degree unlawful transaction with a minor (illegal sexual activity), third degree unlawful transaction with a minor, and unlawful use of electronic means within the Commonwealth to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities.
Legner was under investigation for five weeks when officers determined that he was allegedly communicating with minors via social media such as Kik, Instagram, and Facebook in a sexual manner and enticing them to send him nude photos of themselves.
In one case, officer allege, Legner provided a 15-year old boy with cigarettes, a cell phone, and car rides. A search of Legner's electronic equipment revealed several hundreds of videos and photos of child pornography, the sheriff's office reported in a news release.
Legner is being held in the Boone County Detention Center on a $20,000 cash bond.
