McDaniel Honored as "Friend of Kentucky Cities"

The Kentucky League of Cities have honored State Senator Chris McDaniel (R-Taylor Mill) with a "Friend of Kentucky Cities" award over the weekend.

The award was given to McDaniel during the monthly meeting of the Kenton County Mayors Group and is for legislators that KLC views as having performed outstanding work in advocating for city issues in the General Assembly.

“I believe that government that operates closest to the citizens is the most responsive and effective. I am honored that my work to help our cities serve this critical role has been recognized by the Kentucky League of Cities,” said McDaniel, in a news release.

McDaniel is expected to be named as running mate to Agriculture Commissioner James Comer in his 2015 bid for Kentucky governor.

“KLC appreciates the dedication and hard work put forth by Senator McDaniel during the 2014 legislative session,” said J.D. Chaney, KLC Deputy Executive Director, in a news release. “Senator McDaniel sponsored SB 142, which would have generated significant savings to taxpayers and local governments throughout Kentucky by alleviating the financial burden associated with retirement benefit spiking on public employers. His willingness to sponsor this legislation shows his deep understanding of the financial burden facing Kentucky cities. He is very deserving of the Friend of Kentucky Cities award.”

"Senator McDaniel has worked on tough policy issues that impact cities in Kentucky. He is an asset to the Senate State and Local Government Committee, and we appreciate his support of Kentucky cities,” said Jonathan Steiner, Executive Director/CEO of the Kentucky League of Cities, in a statement.

The Kentucky League of Cities will once again recognize all recipients of the “Friend of Kentucky Cities” award at the annual President’s Banquet on Thursday, October 9, 2014, during the KLC Annual Conference & Expo at the Galt House in downtown Louisville.
