Governor to Make 2 Jobs Announcements in Northern Kentucky
Governor Steve Beshear will make a jobs announcement in Newport and cut a ribbon in Boone County on Monday.
The governor will join Newport Mayor Jerry Peluso, City Manager Tom Fromme, Campbell Co. Judge-Executive Steve Pendery, and Tri-ED's Dan Tobergte at the Riverfront Place office building just after noon.
That is where XPO Logistics is expected to announce upwards of 88 new jobs. The company was awarded $1.5 million in incentives by the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority in September for a new logistics center to include 88 new jobs at an average of $25 per hour, according to an article in the Herald-Leader.
"It's great for Riverfront Place, it's great for the city and it's great for the county," said Newport City Manager Tom Fromme to the Cincinnati Enquirer's Amanda Van Benschoten. "And it'll be really great for the restaurants and other businesses in the area."
At 2 o'clock, Beshear heads to Boone County to cut the ribbon on Balluff's new US headquarters in Florence. According to a news release, Beshear will appear with Kenton County Judge-Executive Steve Arlinghaus.
Balluff is in the manufacturing sector and according to its website is a world leader in sensor technology.
