Grimes Targets Northern Kentucky Voters with New Brent Spence TV Ad

The Brent Spence Bridge is the subject of the newest television ad in the US Senate race between Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes and incumbent Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Grimes began airing the ad in the Northern Kentucky market on Tuesday according to her campaign, which is in a dead heat with McConnell's according to the latest poll.

The Democratic Secretary of State reiterates her position against the use of tolls to pay for the estimated $2.6 billion bridge project that would lead to the creation of a second span next to the congested existing one.

Last week, Grimes came to Covington and spoke with Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) at the top of the Radisson Hotel with the bridge as a backdrop, citing the importance of the project.

She spoke against tolls during a visit to Covington in January, during an appearance at Maifest, and again when her campaign headquarters opened on Pike Street in September.

In June, Grimes and McConnell each released plans that would offer alternatives to tolls, though neither was enthusiastically received in the region.
