The pop-up shops return to Downtown Covington for the holiday shopping season later this month.
The 801 Holiday Pop-Up will host its Grand Opening with five unique retailers. The pop-up shops will be located at 801 Madison Avenue and will be open from Saturday November 29 until Saturday December 20. A list of participating businesses include: Northern Kentucky Incubator Kitchen, Grainwell/Olivia Lane, Purple Potion, and Pistons & Polish. Pandemonium, an art gallery cooperative and The Toy Library will also be participating.
The building is located at 801 Madison Avenue and is a former restaurant space.
The Grand Opening will feature vendors from the Covington Farmers Market and live music. It is scheduled the same day as Shop Small Saturday, a day when people across the country are organizing events to celebrate the small businesses in their communities. Many downtown retailers will be celebrating this day as well, with free giveaways from American Express. Blend at 14 E 5th St. will be hosting a Shop Small Pancake Breakfast from 8am until noon.
Renaissance Covington, the non-profit focused on revitalizing downtown, is hosting the pop-up shops and another Shop Local events this holiday season, providing plenty of opportunity for residents to purchase locally made gifts and holiday items all within the downtown district.
On Saturday, November 22, area retailers are hosting a Holiday Shop Hop from 4 - 8 p.m. A holiday bus will loop to each participating shop, providing easy transport throughout downtown. The loop starts at Dragon's Hoard ( 230 W. Pike) at 4 p.m. but participants may catch the bus at any location every 15 minutes.
Participating shops will have refreshments and special sales and include: Greenline Salon, Dragons Hoard, District 78, Blend, Shrewdness of Apes, Days Gone By Antiques & Vintage, Home Style, flow - a shop for men, Roebling Point Books and Coffee, Sims Furniture, and Franks on Pike.
Some specials include The Covington Blue Sox Commemorative Bat by Louisville Slugger Release at flow-a shop for men, a fifty percent off sale at Home Style, Aveda gift sets as well as free Stress Fix body lotion with purchase at Greenline Salon, and expanded gift selection and twenty-five percent off sale at Days Gone By Antiques & Vintage.
"The retail opportunities in Covington get better and better each year," said Renaissance Manager Katie Meyer. "We can't wait to host these events and welcome everyone to shop local with us, explore downtown and enjoy time with friends."
