Freezing Rain, Ice Hamper Morning Commute
What a difference a couple days can make.
After an unseasonably warm weekend, the morning commute on Tuesday was hit by freezing rain and ice on the highways causing backups across the region.
The National Weather Service issued a FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY for our area through 10 a.m. Light ice accumulations of a few hundredths of an inch are expected, the NWS said.
The light freezing rain, possibly mixed with light amounts of sleet will fall as the temperature slowly warms this morning which will change the freezing rain to just plain old rain.
Light amounts of icing will cause some roads and sidewalks to be slippery -- so be careful while driving, walking, or riding to work or school.
Meanwhile, expect a high on Tuesday of 39.
For the rest of the week, a mix of clouds of rain is expected with high temperatures in the 40s. Sunday looks like the best day, predicted by the NWS to be sunny with a high near 50.
