Governor Coming to Covington. Will He Dust Off Annual Club Venus Joke?
Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear will appear in Covington later this month.
As he did in 2012 and 2013 (and previous years), the two-term Democrat will preview the General Assembly's likely agenda. The legislators return to Frankfort early next year.
The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce's Government Forum luncheon is scheduled for Monday, December 22, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at The Grand (440 Madiosn Avenue).
Governor Beshear will provide an update on the state of the Commonwealth, a preview of what to expect during the 2015 General Assembly, and will highlight issues affecting Northern Kentucky, like the Brent Spence Bridge.
From The River City News report in 2012:
"It's great to be back here at Club Venus," the two-term Democrat joked about the gentleman's club next door. He shared a story of visiting the Grand in 2011 in the midst of his successful reelection campaign where he laughingly worried that a photographer may have been lurking nearby to take a snapshot of Beshear close to the entrance of Club Venus.
In 2013, the governor's visit was moved to the Madison Event Center where he said this:
"I like being here at the Madison but gosh, I do miss the Grand because we always had a bigger crowd with Club Venus next door," the governor said to loud laughter.
