The City of Independence and the Independence Business Association crowned a new Miss Independence Friday night at the Simon Kenton auditorium.

Eighteen-year-old Noelle Lameier won the title in the fourth annual contest over six other contestants ages 16 to 21. First runner up was Courtney Malott, 16, second runner up was Maliah Johnson, 16, and third runner up was Felicia Kenter, 20, who was also Miss Congeniality and the People's Choice.

Best evening gown went to Maliah Johnson, best smile belonged to Alexa Hodge-Jang, 19, and most photogenic was Caitlyn Glass, 16. All the young ladies reside in Independence, and each one was beautiful and very community minded.

Lameier's first official duty is to be the community ambassador at the Christmas Walk festivities in Independence on December 6.
