St. Elizabeth: Flu Levels Increasing Wait Times in Emergency Rooms
This year's flu is already at record levels according to the Northern Kentucky Health Department.
The illness is also affecting wait times at St. Elizabeth emergency rooms.
The hospital released this statement Monday:
As you may be aware, this flu season is among the worst in recent history and beginning to overflow hospitals with patients seeking treatment. At St. Elizabeth, we are seeing more than double the usual flu season volumes in our emergency rooms.
As a result, wait times are longer than normal. If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, we recommend that you contact your primary care physician as soon as possible. An early diagnosis and treatment can often minimize the severity of the illness.
For patients of St. Elizabeth Physicians, you can also use MyChart to request an “e-visit” with your physician and avoid having to come to the office and exposure to other patients. Once you have submitted your online questionnaire, a physician will review your symptoms and determine whether your condition can be diagnosed without an in-person visit. Please note that this service is only available for existing patients of a St. Elizabeth primary care physician.
Should you choose to visit our emergency room for treatment, we ask for your continued patience as we serve everyone who comes through our doors.
