Crash on 75 Involves Police Officer, Slows Traffic
UPDATE: All lanes are now open again as of 12:30 p.m.
UPDATE: The River City News has learned that Ft. Mitchell Police Chief Jeff Eldridge was taken to the hospital after the crash, but that he is OK and being checked out in the emergency room.
UPDATE: The interstate at Dixie is CLOSED as of 11:50 a.m. so that trucks can salt the roadway.
An accident on Interstate 75 at Exit 188 (Dixie Highway) has slowed southbound traffic late Thursday morning.
According to multiple media reports, the accident involved a police officer's vehicle. An officer was transported to the hospital to be checked out, WLWT's Brian Hamrick tweeted.
The left lanes are closed as of 11:38 a.m.
Meanwhile, heavy smoke was filtering through the air north of the accident and closer to the Brent Spence Bridge. The reason for that smoke was not clear as of this posting.
