Auction of Shuttered Covington Landmark Canceled
A landmark Covington restaurant will avoid Tuesday's auction block.
401 and 401A Crescent Avenue, the longtime home of Willie's Sports Cafe, was pulled from the Kenton County Master Commissioner's sale scheduled for Tuesday morning. The restaurant closed for good in November and the property is currently in foreclosure.
PNC Bank has initiated foreclosure proceedings.
According to Kenton County Property Valuation Administrator records, 401 Crescent is worth $1.61 million and 401A is valued at $350,00. The adjoining properties were to be auctioned off together.
What prompted the removal of the property from the auction list was not immediately known. Public property records do not yet indicate a transfer of ownership if one took place.
Often, properties are delayed for procedural purposes and appear on multiple Master Commissioner lists over the course of several months.
