St. E to Celebrate Completion of $30M Facility With Open House
St. Elizabeth recently completed construction of its new $30 million, 40,000 square foot Heart & Vascular Institute, and will celebrate by hosting an open house this Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Edgewood. The new Heart & Vascular Institute features a combination of experts and programs that have been created to improve heart health in the region. Among the new improvements and enhancements include:
- Lobby and registration area with kiosks and staff who can quickly assist patients and speed them on their way to the appropriate service
- Clinical space for specialty services
- Patient waiting area for cardiac surgery and same-day surgery
- Hybrid operating room
- Electrophysiology lab
- Healing garden
- Free and convenient parking
“The Heart & Vascular Institute is more than a construction project. It is a complete reimagination of our cardiac services for the community, all focused on a single goal,” says Dr. Victor Schmelzer, Medical Director. “Our goal is to reduce heart-related deaths in Northern Kentucky by 25 percent by the end of 2025. We will do this through increased community screening and education, applying appropriate new technologies, and a growing participation in clinical research trials.”
The community celebration features informational booths and heart-healthy activities, including demonstrations of “hands only” CPR and AEDs for cardiac emergencies.
