This Longtime Eyesore is Covington's Next New Residential Project
The building has been mostly vacant for years and recently has fallen into obvious disrepair, but it's about to be the latest new residential development in Downtown Covington.
437-439 Greenup Street was purchased last month by Minoj Desai who is also busy with a development project in Mt. Adams.
Sold for $75,000, the structure will undergo a major renovation and become six 2-bedroom apartments, Desai told The River City News on Friday. He was meeting with contractors outside the building and will appear before the city's Urban Design Review Board on April 27.
The proposed exterior changes to the building include the removal of the wrap-around porch on the east and south sides, demolition and rebuild of the wood structure on the north side, new stairs and entry door on the north side, removal of the existing basement entrance on the south side, rebuild rear entry on west side, reconfiguration of south side entrance, replacement of basement windows with glass block windows on the south side yard which will be screened and landscaped, and all windows will be replaced with double pane windows.
New trees will also be placed on the Greenup Street side after the existing tree is removed.
Work is already underway.
