State Police: Elsmere Woman Killed by Man Who Was Then Shot Dead by Officer
A woman is dead after being attacked inside her home in a domestic violence case, according to police. An officer then shot dead the man who is believed to have stabbed the woman to death.
The Kentucky State Police in Dry Ridge have taken over the investigation.
On Thursday at around 7:45 p.m., Elsmere and Erlanger Police responded to a call at 159 Seneca Trail. That's where officers encountered Gustavo Ponce-Galon, 42, in the residence and armed with a knife. According to a news release from the Kentucky State Police, an officer ordered Ponce-Galon to drop the knife. Galon refused and then after several minutes, police said, he charged the officer with his knife.
The officer fired his gun, killing Galon.
A further investigation inside the residence led to the discovery of Maribel Angeles Garcia, 34, suffering from life threatening injuries resulting from the domestic violence incident. She was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
Kentucky State Police Detective Ron Gilbert is leading the investigation. No further details were immediately available.
