100 Students, Volunteers from Duke Energy to Makeover Ludlow Park
Ludlow City Park is getting an “extreme” makeover.
About 100 local students and Duke Energy volunteers will help transform the park that serves as a community gathering place, athletic complex and playground.
Among other projects, the team will paint and install a mural, spruce up the playground area and add new equipment, refurbish the skate park ramps, build new bleachers for the softball field, install new picnic tables, and complete general landscaping and grounds projects. In all, the park will receive tens of thousands of dollars in improvements – on top of the volunteers’ time.
Kevin Gray spearheaded this project. He’s the head coach of the Ludlow High School baseball team and an assistant coal for the basketball team. He’s also a 27-year Duke Energy employee.
The volunteers will be out at City Park from about 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday.
The park is located on Elm Street across from Ludlow High School.
