About that Little Vehicle at CVG Airport...

There is a new personal vehicle at the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).

It is the first airport in the United States to perform pilot testing with WHILL, Inc.’s next generation personal vehicle. Testing parameters and commercial use opportunities will be evaluated over several weeks at CVG with airport staff.

WHILL, Inc. is a San Francisco based start-up that makes the world’s first personal mobility device to combine the All Directional Wheel technology and 4WD. Founded and designed by former Toyota and Nissan automobile industry experts and engineers, WHILL, Inc. is the first mobility device of its kind. Fueled by a mission to change the perception of personal mobility device through design, WHILL, Inc. has created a new product category of high-performance mobility devices that provide unlimited individual freedom and movement through technology.

“Our mission is to reinvent the personal mobility experience for consumers. WHILL, Inc. was designed to power personal freedom by utilizing state-of-the-art technology.  We hope to fundamentally transform the attitudes and perceptions of mobility devices” said WHILL, Inc. CEO, Satoshi Sugie.

The airport provides an ideal test environment for technology developers in a large consumer-based setting. Airport staff contacted WHILL, Inc. about their personal mobility device and its positive addition to the airport experience. CVG’s interests include enhanced service offerings, ease of travel around the airport, and continued engagement with innovative technology to address social issues such as aging and low-mobility consumers in the airport ecosystem.

“We are excited about the potential that WHILL, Inc. brings to personal mobility in an airport just as consumers have come to expect when shopping in a retail environment,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. “First movers of technology provide the basis for future development. Pilot tests with products like WHILL, Inc. give CVG and our tech-collaborators incredible opportunities to jointly innovate potential game-changes to the overall airport customer experience.”
