Listen: Memo Shows Senior Services Recognized Emergency a Month Before Announcing Closure

The surprising announcement that Senior Services of Northern Kentucky would close on Friday followed a memo from the agency's executive director dated September 18, 2015, a month before Monday's news, stated that adjustments would be made to put SSNK on a path to be sustainable for decades to come.

The River City News obtained this internal memo and invited former interim executive director of SSNK, Ken Rechtin, who also writes a column at RCN, to discuss it and the impact of the agency's closure.

Rechtin talks about the financial situation that SSNK faced and other issues that spelled a bleak future for the troubled agency.
