20-Year Old Man Dragged More than 30 Yards After Crashing Vehicle
A 20-year old man is dead after a three-vehicle crash on I-275 Sunday night in Boone Co.
The Boone County Sheriff's Office said the man, from Indiana, was killed when he lost control of his 2003 Honda Civic while traveling westbound near the 10 mile marker. The man, who has not been identified, struck a guardrail on the right side of the road, causing heavy damage to his vehicle.
The man was ejected.
That's when a 2010 Lexus RX5 struck the Civic and the man, dragging both for more than 30 yards.
A third vehicle, a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, struck debris or some other part of the secondary collision. The Lexus, driven by Vy Le, 33, of Seymour, Indiana, also had a 2-month old infant and an adult, Baongoc Than, 28, of Florence. The Camaro was driven by Richard Craig, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
According to the sheriff's office, the 20-year old man was likely speeding excessively.
The westbound lanes of I-275 were shut down until 1 a.m.
The investigation is ongoing.
