Three Saints Named to Academic All-District Team
Thomas More College senior wide receiver Goose Cohorn (Independence, Ky./Dixie Heights), sophomore running back C.T. Tarrant and senior offensive lineman DJ Handlon (Taylor Mill, Ky./Dixie Heights) have been named to the Academic All-District II Football Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA).
Cohorn carries a 3.34 grade point average in business administration. He has 49 catches this season for 1,079 yards and 11 touchdowns. Cohorn has also rushed the ball six times for 55 yards and one touchdown. He has set numerous reception records at Thomas More, including career record for receptions with 155, receiving yards with 2, 934 and receiving touchdowns with 32.
Tarrant carries a 3.51 grade point average in political science. He leads the team in rushing with 144 carries for 935 yards for an average of 116.9 yards per game and has 11 touchdowns. Tarrant has five 100-yard rushing games this season. He also has 11 receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Handlon is majoring in criminal justice and has a 3.81 grade point average. He has helped anchored an offensive line that has blocked the way for the Saints to rush for 2,167 yards (240.8 yards per game) and only allowed 10 sacks in nine games.
By virtue of making the Academic All-District II team, Cohorn, Tarrant and Handlon advance to the Academic All-America Team ballot.
To be selected Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.30 GPA.
The Academic All-District teams are voted on by Sports Information Directors within a district and the member of the CoSIDA Academic All-America committee voting on the national ballot. District II includes every NCAA Division III institution in Kentucky, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island and West Virginia.
