Listen: Covington Commissioner on Pool Fees, Devou Event Center, & More
"I should have voted no on the pools ordinance last night," Covington Commissioner Jordan Huizenga said in a post on Facebook Wednesday.
The city decided, in a 4-1 vote, to begin charging residents to use the two city pools and one water park next summer in order to offset the enormous costs invovled. Huizenga said that he wants to see a sliding scale or fundraising opportunities made available to help lessen the impact to the city's lower income families.
Huizenga joined The River City News editor & publisher Michael Monks to talk about the fees, about fellow Commissioner Steve Frank's lone opposition to the $5 million addition to Devou Park, and his thoughts on the recent governor election in Kentucky.
