Three Local Swimmers Sign with D-1 Schools

Three Northern Kentucky Clippers Seniors signed early confirming their commitment to swim in college at a special event at Silverlake Monday evening. All three Clippers were recruited by multiple schools and are excited about taking the next step in their career.

The three swimmers are:

Mikayla Herich: Herich will be attending and swimming at Ohio University. She lives in Hebron and is homeschooled. Herich will bring to the Bobcats two Junior National qualifying times and multiple NCSA qualifying times. She has competed at Junior Nationals, Pro-Series events, and NCSA Championships. Mikayla has the versatility to help the Bobcats in multiple events.

Brendan Meyer: Meyer will be attending swimming at the University of Arizona. He lives in Taylor Mill and attends Covington Catholic High School and will bring to the Wildcats Olympic Trials qualifying times in the distance free and fly events. Meyer has been with the Clippers for over nine years, and has been a part of numerous record setting swims. He has competed at USA Nationals, Junior Nationals, Pro-Series events, and NCSA Championships.

Madeleine Vonderhaar: Vonerhaar will be attending and swimming at the University of Virginia. She lives in Lakeside Park and is a senior at Notre Dame Academy and will bring to the Cavaliers a 2016 Olympic Trials qualifying time in the 200 Breaststroke. Vonderhaar has grown up with the Clippers and has been a part of numerous record setting swims that rank her in the top 7% in the NCAA. She has competed at USA Nationals, Junior Nationals, Pro-Series events, and NCSA Championships.

Founded in 1979 by David Webb, the Northern Kentucky Clippers are a year-round competitive swim team sanctioned by USA Swimming. The Clippers Team has established itself as a premier team in the Tri-State area by earning the National USA Swimming Silver Medal Award of Excellence. Today, the Clippers Swim Team has approximately 200 swimmers and is currently ranked 35th in the country, according to USA Swimming. More information on the team can be found at Clipperswim.org.
