Photos: New Mural Celebrated on Historic Covington Building Undergoing Redevelopment
There is a new mural welcoming visitors to Covington.
The Flannery Paint Building on Martin Luther King Boulevard, named for the most recent tenant, greets drivers coming from west of town or I-75 with a trip of roosters celebrating the city's bicentennial year.
The building is currently being renovated by Mansion Hill Properties, the Newport-based firm that specializes in historic rehabs. Partner Mark Ramler said Tuesday at the mural celebration that there are interested parties looking to occupy the building when it's completed.
The River City News took a tour of the building earlier this year.
Officials from the City of Covington joined Mansion Hill Properties, the Center for Great Neighborhoods, and BLDG (which created the mural) welcomed visitors to the building and served pastries from neighboring FIKA coffee house and beer from Braxton Brewing Company.
The mural represents the budding urban agriculture movement in Covington which is primarily based in the city's Westside neighborhood.
