Grand Opening Date Announced for Downtown Covington Coffee Shop

Point Perk, a coffee shop of The Point/Arc, will have its grand opening on December 11 from 3pm-8pm at the corner of Pike and Washington.

The coffee shop not only will offer a full service espresso bar serving Carabello Coffee, but will also employee individuals with intellectual and development disabilities. The hours of operation for Point Perk will be Monday-Friday from 7am-11am. Customers can call ahead at 859-491-PERK (7375) for curbside delivery if they are in a rush.

The grand opening celebration will feature live music, food, a ribbon cutting, and, of course, coffee.

The Point/Arc received a grant from the Hatton Foundation that was used to open Point Perk.

“The Hatton Foundation is thrilled to support the start-up of Point Perk, a social enterprise coffee shop that will provide employment opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our Foundation believes in the power of work for people of all ability levels. We hope this grant helps make good things happen in Covington and for the people served by The Point/ARC,” said Walt Lunsford, Executive Director of Hatton Foundation.

Point Perk will be serving Carabello Coffee, a coffee roaster from Newport. Carabello Coffee is a philanthropic artisan coffee roasting company serving Greater Cincinnati. Carabello’s mission is to equitably source exceptional coffees, roast them to perfection and then use the profits as a way to fund works of compassion in Third World coffee producing nations like Nicaragua and Kenya.

“There is a marriage of two missions, from The Point and Carabello Coffee, together creating a feel good cup of coffee,” said Patty Murphy, Marketing Director at The Point.
