The vehicle disappeared near the railroad tracks. Train traffic was halted.
At one point, police officers were searching for a missing 25-year old man who turned up soon after the call went out.
The number of people rescued was not immediately clear but it is believed that at one point they were clinging to the top of a vehicle. An ambulance was called to the scene as one of the rescued people experienced a possible broken rib.
A strong thunderstorm rolled through the region on Wednesday afternoon and evening, leading to a tornado warning at one point for southern Kenton and Campbell Counties.
