NKY Swimmers Post Record-Breaking Times at Weekend Meets
Last weekend, the Northern Kentucky Clippers competed in Austin, Texas and hosted a home meet in Erlanger.
While the majority of the team was swimming at the Mid Winter Classic, six members of the National team traveled to Austin, Texas to compete in the Austin Pro Series. In Austin, these swimmers had the opportunity to compete against some of the top swimmers in the world. At the meet, Madeleine Vonderhaar picked up her 100 breaststroke Olympic Trial Cut. She also broke the 17-18 girls 100 and 200 breaststroke Ohio LSC Records as well. Sophie Skinner also added to her Olympic Trials Schedule by picking up her 200 IM cut.
"The Arena Pro Swim Series in Austin was a great start to the Olympic year. We had multiple performances that rank in the Top 50 in the world for 2016," said Norm Wright, head coach of the Clippers.
The balance of the team competed at the 30th Annual Mid Winter Classic hosted by the Clippers. This meet was a huge success for the swimmers as the Clippers outscored the second place team by over 5400 points and had 128 top 3 finishes, including 45 first place winners/.
"Mid Winter was a great meet that is setting the Clippers up for a fun championship season," said Chad Rehkamp, head age group coach of the Clippers.
