Relocation of Men's Store to Dayton Another Sign of City's Main Street Efforts

Dayton is aggressively working to bring businesses to its historic business district and last year adopted what is known as the Community Commercial Advantage Program (CCAP) to announce to entrepreneurs and developers that the city wants them.

Gents Men's Resale Consigment, the clothing and accessories shop previously located in Bellevue, was celebrated on a blistery Saturday afternoon at its new location at 530 Sixth Avenue in Dayton.

The shop joins Kate's Catering and the forthcoming Purple Poulet, a southern-inspired bistro that will open this month, as new arrivals to the community since the adoption of the CCAP.

"The first week has been amazing. My customers found me again, which is good, too," said shop owner Sandi Slusser. She said that the first five days on Sixth Avenue were better than her last month at the previous location.

Dayton Mayor Virgil Boruske and several members of the city council and the city administrator attened Saturday's ribbon cutting at Gents, whose collection of men's clothing is sure to impress the most stylish of gentlemen -- particularly those who like a good bargain.

"It's really been fun and amazing so far," Slusser said.

Gents is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
