Covington Latin Archer Finishes in Top 5 at Regional Tournament
The CLS archery team participated in the Kentucky National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) Region 8 Tournament at Ryle High School in Union on Saturday, February 6.
Covington Latin’s team of 13 archers competed against over 400 students from local high schools. Over 1,200 archers from grades four through high school competed at the tournament.
Top scorer for the CLS team was freshman Adam Moon. Moon scored 286 and was awarded 5th place out of 204 high school boys at the Region 8 tournament. Moon’s score tied him for 74th place out of all high school boy archers in the entire state of Kentucky and earned him a place at the state Individual tournament in Midway, Kentucky on March 26. Top score for for Latin girls went to freshman Noel Foltz. Foltz shot a 272 and placed 22nd out of 201 high school girls at the Regional tournament.
As a team, Latin placed 11th out of 22 teams with a score of 3006. Coaches Robin Bonaventura, Mikael Soto and Christina Soto all agreed that this was an excellent showing for the Covington Latin School team's inaugural season.
