Police: Water Too High to Retrieve Vehicle that Fell from Bridge
The water is too high for rescuers to retrieve a vehicle that fell into the Ohio River from the Combs Hehl Bridge on Tuesday afternoon.
Campbell County Police Chief Craig Sorrell said Wednesday morning that it may be Sunday or Monday before conditions allow the Boone County Water Rescue Team to recover the vehicle.
There were no details released about how many people may have been inside the car when it was among approximately 12 involved in a crash on eastbound I-275 at the bridge. One vehicle was sent over the side of the bridge and the interstate was shut down for hours.
The police department said Wednesday that the vehicle may have been a red Pontiac Grand Prix or a similar vehicle but stressed that that is not yet confirmed.
Anyone who is missing a relative or loved one who may have been traveling this route is asked to call Campbell County Police at 859.547.3100.
