TMC Tabs Lucas as Head Rugby Coach for Inaugural Season
Thomas More College has announced that Al Lucas has been hired as head coach for the inaugural Thomas More Saints Club Rugby Team. Lucas will coach both the men’s and women’s teams.
Lucas is currently the President of the Ohio Rugby Union (ORU). He is also the Commissioner of the Midwest Rugby Premiership, as well as a player and coach for the Cincinnati Rugby Football Club (RFC), the Wolfhounds. He also coaches the Cincinnati Lady Kelts and the Cincinnati RFC Women’s 7s Team. Lucas has 28 years of experience coaching men’s, women’s, collegiate, and youth rugby. Lucas is committed to expanding the game of rugby across all player segments, ages, and geographies. Regionally, Lucas has started and continues to be involved in many rugby clubs. As the President of the ORU, Lucas has supported the formation of several new clubs and new collegiate leagues and is also co-founder and Director of the Cincinnati Rugby Football Academy Coach
Lucas is joined by newly appointed Director of Rugby Recruitment John Fox, who began his rugby career in 1983. Fox has served as a coach for several teams including University of Arkansas and Mount St. Mary’s College. He has held several leadership positions within the Potomac Rugby Union and Frederick Rugby Foundation. Fox is currently serving as the Director of The Cincinnati Rugby Football Academy and The Rugby Academy in Washington, D.C.
The Thomas More College men’s and women’s rugby club sports will begin competing in the fall 2016 semester.
