Florence Mission Group Feeds the Hungry Six Days a Week
Beginning July 11, Mary Rose Mission in Florence will begin serving meals to the hungry six nights a week.
Mary Rose Mission has been open five evenings per week for the past several months, but will be adding a Monday evening meal in the coming weeks. Each evening of service, over 100 guests are welcomed with a free meal.
The menu at Mary Rose Mission changes daily and the chefs are charged with ensuring that a good variety of fruits and vegetables are served along with a main course. Guests are waited on by volunteer servers throughout the dining room.
Thanks to the generosity of the Northern Kentucky community, the Mary Rose Mission is able to keep the cost of meals extremely low. Food drives, cash donations, and penny wars/out of uniform days for grade schools are just a few of the ways the community shows support for the organization's work.
The Mission is always in need of volunteers, especially through the summer when many regular volunteers take vacations and school groups no longer take a weekly shift. Cooking shifts run from 11:00am-3:00pm and serving shifts run 3:30pm-7:00pm. Those interested in volunteering can send an email to [email protected].
